As I look back at my classified ad for leasing an apartment, I feel that my ad is unique by the fact that I mention a meditating room. The general genre of classified ads has many factors that create the genre. For example, the classified ads could be online or on newspapers. I will focus my energy on the basic newspaper classified ads because it set the traditional format. Classified ads have a certain format and usually the ads lengths are short and straight to the point as well as a persuasive eye catching saying that a reader can call for more information.
The reason for the limited amount of words on the ads is due to the fact that writer is either charged by the amount of space or words, thus the writer have to be concise and persuasive get the attention of the audience. It is also easier for the reader to understand the general information for the place for rent insists of being bombard by too much unnecessary information. The sentence structure of classified ads is incomplete because it is to grab the reader attention with the amount of limited amount of space. The convention of the word bathroom become “BA” and bedroom become “BR” is the standard layout among the other for rent classified ads. By following the same convention, I show that I understand standard format within the genre of classified ads to my audience.
