When do people shop online?

Small Business 1 Comment »
JJ asked:

I started a t-shirt shop for extra cash couple months back! Most of my sales came during St. Patty’s day but none really since then.

When/what are the common hours/time a day people shop online? Also, where is the best place to focus marketing efforts?

I use traffic exchanges but not good for direct selling. I can’t blog but have posted several classified ads. Myspace is falling on deaf ears so who buys funny t-shirts and what time are most purchases taking place?
Here is my shop zazzle.com/timetrax*

Looking for online marketplaces BESIDES eBay?

Small Business 1 Comment »
missusjonz asked:

Hey, everyone. I’ve been doing some research into doing some online sales of my jewelry, collectibles, gently used designer children’s clothes, and vintage adult clothing.

Besides eBay, does anyone know of good online marketplaces, especially ones with any or all of these features:

**free or inexpensive to post items

**offers sellers a storefront set-up as well as individual item listings

**appears to be popular/well-established

**looks professional, not just a no-frills classified ad listing like
Craigslist

I have come across two: eCrater & Ruby Lane. Let me know if you have any experience with either one.

Thanks for any input you may have. . . I’m perhaps not the most
proficient of internet searchers, and fear I’m missing useful info by just Googling. Also, personal anecdotes/feedback on sites from “regular joes” with no personal stake in referring me to a site (that would be YOU GUYS) is always helpful & welcome.

Thanks, guys!

Best type of advertising?

Small Business 4 Comments »
itchygoyoyompjohn asked:

I am a masonry/decorative concrete contractor. I know word of mouth is best but being only in the biz for myself a few years, it takes time for that. Anyways I’ve done the internet leads, and papers ads and classifieds biz ads. I find that so far classified biz ads are the most by far quality type of jobs I get with internet being more quantity but lowest quality.

My question is anyone have any experience and thoughts on Direct Mailers?
Just like to add Craiglist is free and I still post on it often but it usually is worse than internet leads. $15 a week in the biz classified ad section in a local paper is such a killer. The Direct mailing isn’t cheap but has its deals, payments are stretched out and I can hit 20,000-30,000 high income households. Any other ideas?

What is the best method for bookkeeping for a small internet based business?

Small Business 2 Comments »
tkm asked:

Hi,

I am starting up a website business from home and money will be largely generated via advertising and also through customers paying to place classified ads.

What method should I adopt for bookkeeping i.e. a spreadsheet or some sort of software? What kind of information would I need to record for this type of business specifically?

Any help would be much appreciated.

Kind regards,
Tim

The job sounds interesting. They ask for a one time fee of $15 which they claim you will make back with your first response. Is this a scam?

Can anyone suggest a fast easy way to sell minor retail items online?

Small Business 3 Comments »
THOMAS K asked:

My experience with eBay so far has been that there are interminable waits for new pages when you click on their links and dead-end links that do not respond at all when you click. I simply can’t get through the maze. I don’t want to spend months figuring out how to place an ad for a few simple items. I can’t even find a place to ask a question on eBay. They have ready-made FAQ’s that, of course, never answer your questions. Does anyone know a better faster way to proceed?
